Well this is a tricky question and the answer to this is not a simple one either.
What is motivational speaking anyway? Maybe one can show people how to reach goals they think are impossible.  Maybe one can explain how the new economy works better than anyone else, guiding companies to succeed with innovative products and services.  Maybe you understand creativity and can share that understanding with teams, helping them become less stuck.

Motivational speakers always have something unique to say, their passion always comes first.  The reason people hire you to speak, and pay you is that, if you’re very, very good, and well known, and you have something unique to say. But speaking itself is not a profession.  It is more than that, it’s a craft and you can always learn to get better at it.  But one should focus on the passion that one has got and keep that alive, and you will indeed be a successful motivational speaker one day!

A motivational speaker, also known as an inspirational speaker, delivers speeches with the intention of motivating or inspiring the people in the audience. Typically, he or she has a reputation as an expert on the subject being discussed, and encourages the audience to look at things from a different perspective and to become more attentive to their own talents and abilities.

The ultimate goal of a motivational speaker is to change people profoundly on an emotional and/or mental level, and to help them make some kind of professional or personal change in their lives and within themselves. People naturally tend to focus on all their problems, and the motivational speaker will help an audience to focus on the many opportunities instead, by using any number of persuasive speech tactics to inspire and motivate.

Almost all motivational speakers relate their own personal experience to an audience, which means they can come from any kind of background and use that information to inspire others. Not everyone evaluates their significant life experiences to determine if those experiences could be helpful to others.

Here are some points which all motivational speakers do-

They research their topic/content well– In the world of professional Speaking –content is the king. All have copious and well-researched content.

They all know their purpose of talk-Beating around the bush never helps a professional speaker. They all have clarity on what they want to deliver– and they make it super easy for the target audience.

Over the years they have developed a good-network of potential clients– Over the years they have cultivated a well-networked source of potential customers. The tie-up’s with genuine customers are long-lasting.

Professional speaking is a competitive field, but one with immense rewards. A motivational speaker is constantly reflecting on their own life to see what information would be helpful to their audiences or clients. They speak in a variety of venues like schools, company boardrooms, community centres, and conferences. They make the most of the gift of gab and truly try to change things for the better.
